memo
“Pintura” by 1982 is only a snapshot in time of the group in the studio, as the trio completely improvizes its music. Harmonium, drums and fiddle, plus found instruments or objects, are the ingredients 1982 use to create their unique soundscapes, textures and patterns. The individual tracks are only titled according to their respective duration, which is appropriate for the “snapshot in the studio” concept behind the album. Of course it is always risky to freely improvize music without preconceived directions – it can quickly turn into a massive confused cacophony. The three experienced Norwegians of 1982 know what they are doing, however. It’s a real treat to listen to them and find out where their moods and ideas are taking them. Let them take you along for a slightly bumpy ride. Be warned: The violin can hit some pretty irritating notes.
