memo
Stormloop is the alter ego of Kev Spence, a Leeds-based producer who has been busy with a string of self-released digital-only albums over the past few years (six alone this year). ”Snowbound*“ is his first album on a ”proper“ label. And his sparse ambient sound fits perfectly on the Italian Glacial Movement's imprint whose mission statement is ”glacial and isolationist ambient“. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the overall feel of ”Snowbound*“ is rather bleak.  Frosty pads and drones blow over deserted landscapes, and every once in a while a melody rises from these cold textures to bring a little warmth and beauty to the album. ”Losing Sleep“ is especially beautiful. This is truly immersive stuff - if you like the cold that is.
