It’s been thirty years since Martin Gore and Vince Clarke were both part of Depeche Mode, working on the groups first album, before Clarke eventually split to form Yazoo and later Erasure, while Depeche Mode became synth-pop’s first act to fill stadiums. Under the moniker VCMG (get it?) the two elder statesmen of electronic pop explore their shared love for techno and „Spock“ is a teutonically marching track full of analogue bliss and industrial shimmer. The four accompanying remixes come courtesy of Regis, DVS1, Edit Select and XOQ and will please the techno community further. Regis’ remix is a deep pulsating strobe-firing monster of a track, while DVS1 takes the original track into hypnotic depths with his concentration on classic but effective ever-modulating sequences. Edit Select turn „Spock“ into a throbbing epic and XOQ close the set with the most in-your-face rework.
