The newest release on John Elliott’s ever reliant label Spectrum Spools is another re-release, this time by multi-instrumentalist and noise musician Robert Turman. „Flux 4“ was originally released in 1981 on a c-60 cassette and it contains six sparse and minimalistic explorations, using only piano, kalimba, a drum-machine and tape-loops to create truly meditative pieces of experimental music. Especially the hazy „Flux 3“ with its gloomy repetitive melody and the album’s title track with its gentle piano and the even more gentle, barely audible kickdrum underneath are sublime. Meditative beauty. For repeated listening.
