Since John Talabot first appeared on the scene a few years ago he has carved his own lush signature sound with house music as its primary root, but with colorful nods to a whole bunch of neighbouring styles from disco to balearic to unabashed electronic pop. His debut album „Fin“ for the Munich-based label Permanent Vacation is the next big step in Talabot’s development, weaving all those elements together to a seductive and highly addictive sound, which is at its core open and idiosyncratic. The Barcelona-based producer has a knack for big melodic gestures without sugar-coating his tracks. Highlights have to be the St. Etienne-like „Destiny“, the low-slung slow motion house of „Missing You“ or the haunting acidic „So Will Be Now“. Very well recommended.
