Bonobo’s last album „Black Sands“ (released two years ago), gets the remix treatment. Given the original material and the list of remixers - Floating Points, Mark Pritchard, Arp 101, Falty DL, Blue Daisy, Banks, Mike Slott, Duke Dumont and Machinedrum -  the expectations are obviously incredibly high, but you’d be hard pressed to find a single flaw in this collection. The way Floating Point accentuates the swinging 2-step sensibility of ”Eyesdown“for instance is just too good to be true. Or, Arp 101’s squelchy beat-workout of the same track, taking the original into a completely different universe full of bleeps and hoovering bass. FaltyDL’s jazzy rework of „All In Forms“ is another winner as is Mark Pritchard low-riding and raunchy downtempo revision of „Stay The Same“. Machinedrum gives „Eyesdown“ the footwork treatment with looped-up vocal-bits and fidgety percussions and Blue Daisy and Fat City’s Mike Slott just do their thing and take „All In Forms“ and „Stay The Same“ to distant psychedelic planets. A strong compilation of remixes.
