Classicist dubstep session for all you low-end loving half-time aficionados
While most of Dubstep’s originators have moved on into other sonic territories, there are still producers out there devoted to the classicist half-time skank of the genre’s original template. London’s dubstep stronghold Tempa has commissioned the twelfth installment of their „Dubstep Allstars“ compilation series to Silkie and Quest. Signed to Mala’s Deep Medi label, their mix is heavy on their own productions as well as like-minded beatsmith Swindle’s. Twenty-four tracks strong Silkie and Quest’s selection moves effortlessly from puristic dubstep riddims to swinging garage-infused steppers and downtempo-like excursions. „Dubstep Allstars Vol. 12“ definitely does not re-invent the genre, but it also doesn’t sound dated or out of time. Even though the two producers are traditionalists rather than anything else, the compilation is still a well-compiled and arranged mix of underground music.
