Still beautifully British – Adele's third album shines with powerful melodies and timeless elegance. "25" will take her straight back up to the top.
First a number one hit in just about every chart there is, then a break to have a baby, then a period of writer's block, then – nothing. It has been four years since Adele made the hit list with "21" (2011), then quickly disappeared from the radar. Then, with the friendly greeting "Hello" she is finally back. And she is back with a surprise, saying that Madonna's "Ray Of Light" is what inspired her third long player. Surprising because "25" has almost nothing in common with Madonna's 1998 album. Adele presents tracks on "25" that are unmistakably hers – with soul as a huge factor. Tracks like the cinematic "I Miss You" are loaded with Adele's power, and clearly show that she doesn't need much melody for her inimitable talent to put everything else in the shade. When Adele does pop, as she does in "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", then it sounds refreshingly different. Her British elegance touches everyone who hears it – she may already have 13 Grammy awards, but it looks like she is lining up for more.
