A New Place 2 Drown Archy Marshall
First Zoo Kid, then Kid Krule, now Archy Marshall – the change in names has marked the transition from indie to electronica.
Taking it all the way back to the beginning – Archy Marshall first stepped out onto the stage in 2010 under the name Zoo Kid. In 2013, as King Krule with "6 Feet Beneath The Moon" – seemingly the one album that the indie-sector could all agree on. Then back to his 'proper' name and a trilogy of releases – an art book, with over 200 pages of drawings by Archy himself, a short film he made, and as third instalment, "A New Place 2 Drown", the seriously chilled, electronic rinse album by Mr. Marshall. Everything rides on these relaxed and floating beats, perfectly suited to just about any hip hop comedown. Instead, Marshall uses them to climb to a dub heaven, to be a wandering minstrel without a guitar – and he does it better than ever before.
