Blackbird - The Beatles Album Milos Karadaglic

Miloš Karadaglić plays classical guitar arrangements of popular Beatles hits with such illustrious guests as Gregory Porter, Anoushka Shankar and Tori Amos.

It is hardly news that the Beatles are also highly respected in the world of classical music. Many classical musicians were and still are outspoken fans including Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Pavarotti, Nigel Kennedy, Renée Fleming and the young Montenegrin guitarist Miloš Karadaglić. Now, with a little help from his friends, he presents his Beatles tribute "Blackbird" with guitar arrangements of more than a dozen popular hits from the Fab Four. Guests include Gregory Porter on "Let It Be", Tori Amos on "She's Leaving Home" (the highlight of the album), Anoushka Shankar on "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and world-class violinist Steven Isserlis on "Michelle". Occasionally, the brilliant guitar arrangement are supported by additional strings. To give the recording sessions a fitting atmosphere, the album was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios where the Beatles recorded almost all of their most important songs (including the album of the same name). The musicians even used some of the same microphones to get a sound as close to the original as possible. Miloš (as he is known internationally) delivers a very loving homage to the immortal tunes of John, Paul, George and Ringo. This may well not be "challenging classical music", complex, technically and musically challenging (new?) music, but instead a deep, regardtful bow of respect to what was probably the most significant phenomenon in 20th century popular music.
